Connected Accounting and ERP Software

When developing a cross-platform (Mac and PC) accounting application, it is sometimes difficult to offer the same user experience for both platforms.   In this, our first Connected 7 preview, we offer a quick glimpse at just another way or Development team strives to make Connected work the same on both platforms, or some might say, make the PC experience more like a Mac.

Sometimes, being a cross-platform (Mac and PC) accounting solution means we aren't able to do everything exactly the same, despite our best efforts.  Although we do have a strong focus on Mac our goal is and always will be to offer a truly cross platform accounting solution.  This focus really differentiates us from programs like QuickBooks TM, which can’t share data between their Mac and PC versions and essentially offer a different app for each platform.

Over the years of development with Mac OS X, we have long admired and taken full advantage of the ability of Mac OS to automatically generate PDF documents.  Generating a PDF is built right into the operating system with no additional programs or costs required - yes it is that easy PC users.  Creating a PDF copy of reports or emailing a PDF copy of a customer invoice have always been easy and worked seamlessly with Connected, on the Mac platform.

On the PC side, the creation of PDF files has always been less straightforward. All versions of Windows, to date, have lacked built in PDF creation ability without the use of additional third party software.  Over the years we have integrated various solutions to help our PC users.  However, we never did find a solution that worked 100% without issue or wasn't a little quirky to setup.  Connected 7 will finally change that.

Connected 7 will introduce native built in PDF ability directly into the Connected application, for PC users (yes we can hear the groan Mac users).  PC accounting departments or PC users will now have a similar experience to our Mac users and be able to easily and quickly generate PDF files of reports and/or email copies of invoices, purchase orders, and all other forms.   

Now -- if only the PC had the built in "Preview" app ....... that will have to wait for another release we can't solve all PC problems!
